I wholeheartedly believe that health is wealth. It should be an asset available to everyone, not only the few. When we focus on addressing social needs and eliminating barriers to care for the most vulnerable populations, we’re providing an invaluable opportunity to improve health outcomes that can positively impact generations. It feels good working for a company that values health equity and is doing real work to help eliminate health disparities so all people can thrive.
– Oluchi Onyima, Community Engagement Manager
I was working for my county’s community action agency when Governor Brown put the COVID-19 stay at home order in place. Suddenly many of us left the office to work from home and experienced a surge in requests for our services. Our paper file and landline phone systems for sending clients with multiple needs between our different programs broke down. Now, I realize that the best way I can serve my community is to make sure that every organization has access to the tools in Unite Us and every person in need has the opportunity to receive integrated care on the Connect Oregon network.
– Momone Maley, Community Engagement Manager
Standing in the rain outside of a convenient store, scanning the streets for a referred client who was experiencing homelessness and known to frequent the area, I knew there had to be a better way for community-based organizations to connect with our most vulnerable clients. The solution became clear to me when I learned about how Unite Us and Connect Oregon brought health and social care providers together in an efficient and trauma-informed way with a goal of getting services to those who need them most. I wanted to be a part of that solution and could not be prouder of the work we do both in my community and in the country at large.
